The Geeks Come Out At Night...

Have you ever heard of The Wheel of Time?  It is a 14 book epic fantasy series by Robert Jordan. The first one was published in 1984 and the last one, the final novel, came out on January 8, 2013 at midnight. I didn't hear about them until my sister in law introduced them to me last year. Her and my brother in law have been reading them for years. There are 14 books in the series and the shortest one is over 1000 pages. These are big books. I managed to read the first 9 last year. It has been so fun to read them and have epic discussions with my sister and brother in law. I have loved it. They have both read all the books and were excited for the final novel to come out. They discovered that there would be a question and answer session with the author and other notable people that made the series happen in Provo the night that the book came out. So we spontaneously decided to go. We ended up having so much fun, and Briya did the first geeky thing of her life. There were a LOT of "nerds and weirdos" there. I fit right in. Ha, ha If you know me, than you know that books are a huge part of my life. I hadn't done something like this in so long, and it felt great! It was all very interesting and at the end there were prizes for drawings. My name was the first name called as a winner!! Shocking!! I never win! I won a sweet T-shirt. Afterwards, we went to IHOP and had a super late dinner and talked about the books. I didn't get home until 1 a.m. and probably got maybe an hour of sleep that night because Briya was wired from all the geekiness... but it was so worth it.
